Waiting... and waiting...
February 22, 2021
You know where you're excited to get started... and then have to wait? Super frustrating. That's my life right now. I have so many awesome designs I want to make - some are mostly done, some are waiting to be cut out - and in all cases I'm waiting on materials to arrive.
I've got a great sling pattern and I've got everything I need to make it - fabric, hardware, you name it! I ordered antique brass zipper and ended up with gunmetal zipper tape and antique brass pulls. I suppose it would do, but I'm a perfectionist over here and there's no way I could convince myself to mix gunmetal with antique brass. So here I am, waiting for antique brass zipper tape and gunmetal pulls (can't let a good zipper go to waste, right?).

But that's ok. I've got another great design I've found, and I've already made a dozen! So much fun to make... but it needs a belt and the hardware I have is either too small or a little too heavy for my needs. So, I'm waiting for more to arrive.

Product Feature: Cross-Body Bags
September 10, 2020
I'm not usually a cross-body bag person. I don't think I've used one since high school. The last couple years I've been using one of our giant totes as my go-to bag, and it's been pretty great. I mean they're huge! The amount of stuff they can hold is pretty impressive.

Then last week I had to run an errand and I wanted something a little smaller to carry than the tote. So, I grabbed the zebra cross-body bag to give it a good test run. I've been eyeing this bag since it came off the sewing machine, the fabric is just so much fun! I tossed in my wallet, keys, and sunglasses and I was off.
Let me tell you - I LOVE this bag! The adjustable strap allows you to easily go from shoulder bag to cross body. The two outer slip pockets are perfect for keeping a bottle of hand sanitizer and a mask in easy reach - essential needs in these times. There's also the front zip pocket where I like to keep my cell phone and a pen. Inside the bag, I of course had my wallet, keys, and sunglasses in their case. Another zip pocket inside kept any small items from getting lost in the bottom - like an essential lip gloss. And to top it all off: a top zipper to keep everything safe.
Trust me when I say more of these bags will be coming!

Photography in the "Wild"
January 24, 2020
It had been pretty cold in Eastern Ontario up until last week when we were finally gifted with some mild weather. So, I decided to take advantage of the "warm" weather to get outside and look for a good spot to take some product photos. I've been wanting to do it since the summer, but I could never figure out where to set up. I mean we're sitting on almost 3 acres out in the country, surely there were some spots that would be perfect, right?
Finally, as I was getting ready to head out, I thought of the old fence behind our barn. It's a forgotten part of our yard - we don't keep any farm animals anymore (we did have chickens a few years back), and the gate is too narrow to get the lawn tractor in to cut the grass in there. So, it always sits empty and full of long grass in the summer. I mentioned to David that we should just take the fence down and he had tried in the fall. But the grass was so thickly entwined int the fencing that it refused to budge. We decided to wait until early spring to deal with it.
Lucky for me, that fence was still up because I had a sudden thought of a tote bag hanging on one of the posts. So we brought out a bunch of products, and the camera equipment and set to work. And with the first shot, I knew I had stumbled on the perfect setting. Now I can't wait for the next bout of warm weather to get out there again!
